Zabulon Skipper

Zabulon Skipper was described from Georgia by Boisduval and LeConte from drawings by Abbot (1829-1833). Abbot collected mostly in Burke and Screven Counties that border the Savannah River.
Occurrence: Common statewide, but occurring more locally south of the Fall Line, in woodlands and meadows, particularly near rivers or streams. It also occurs well away from streams, as on Kennesaw Mountain in Cobb County. Two to three broods from late April to early October. Early date: April 20, Bartow County; Late Date: September 26, Screven County.
Hostplants: Various grasses including Lovegrass (Eragrostis) and Purpletop (Tridens flava), both of which occur statewide (USDA).
