Wild Indigo Duskywing
Erynnis baptisiae
Wild Indigo Duskywing is uncommon throughout the state. The hostplants are yellow wild indigo (Baptisia tinctoria) , blue wild indigo (Baptisia australis) (documented in Walker, Catoosa and Floyd Counties), Canadian milkvetch (Astragalus canadensis) (Mountains), wild white indigo (Baptisia alba) (thoughout), gopherweed (Baptisia lanceolata) (Coastal Plain), pineland wild indigo (Baptisia lecontei) (Lowndes, Echols and Lanier Counties), sundial lupine (Lupinus perennis) (mostly in Coastal and near Coastal Counties). It also uses the exotic crown vetch (Coronilla varia). There are two broods: the first occurs from late March (March 29, Upson County) into May (May 19, Screven County); the second occurs from late June (June 21, Bibb County) to Late July (July 19, Rabun County). More field work is needed for a better understanding of the occurrence and distribution of the species. Early Date: March 29 (Upson County); Late Date: July 19 (Rabun County). Conservation Status: Secure.
