Southern Cloudywing
Thorybes bathyllus
Southern Cloudywing is seen regularly statewide, but it is seldom numerous. The habitat is forest edges, roadsides and other open areas. The hostplants are butterfly-pea (Clitoria ternatea), goat’s-rue (Cracca ambigua), and other legumes (Harris, Butterflies of Georgia, 1972). There are two broods: the first occurs from early March (March 9, Decatur County) to mid-June (June 17, Upson County); the second occurs from late June (June 28, Crawford County) to mid-October (October 16, Cherokee County). Conservation Status: Secure.
