Red-spotted Purple, a race of White Admiral (Limenitis arthemis arthemis) is locally common statewide but most numerous north of the Fall Line. The habitat is moist deciduous forest and riparian bottoms or roads though them. The hostplants are wild cherry (Prunus serotina) (confirmed in GA), tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera), serviceberry (Amelanchier arborea), and willow (Salix spp). There are three broods from April to October (roughly April to June, July to early August, late August to October). Early Date: April 24 (Grady County and Bartow County); Late Date: October 29 (Taylor County). Conservation Status: Secure.
