Dun Skipper
Euphyes vestris
Dun Skipper is a widely adaptable species and is common statewide. The habitat includes roadsides, meadows, weedy fields, especially wet or damp areas. The hostplants are Carex spp., one of which, Hop Sedge (Carex lupulina) occurs across the state. There are two broods: the spring brood flies in late March and April into early May south of the Fall Line, May and June into July north of the Fall Line. The summer brood flies July into October. Early Date: May 4 (Muscogee County); Late Date: October 18 (Chattahoochee County). Conservation Status: Secure.
