Dreamy Duskywing
Erynnis icelus

Dreamy Duskywing is uncommon to locally common within its narrow range in the Mountains and Ridge and Valley. The habitat is openings in deciduous or mixed forest along forest roads and trails. They are often seen at high elevations in the Mountains but at lower elevations in the Ridge and Valley and northern Piedmont (Bartow County). The hostplant is undetermined, but oaks are a likely candidate since they are used by other Erynnis species. There is one spring brood from late March to late June with the peak time from mid-April to late May. During this period, they can be abundant in the Mountains and present in good numbers farther south in the Ridge and Valley counties. Early Date: 11 April (Murray County); Late Date: May 20 (Towns County). Conservation Status: Secure.
