Crossline Skipper

Crossline Skipper is uncommon to locally common statewide. It is mostly known as a denizen of dry grassy fields, sandhills and woodland edges, but in Georgia it also occurs in wet meadows. The hostplants are purpletop (Tridens flavus), little bluestem (Schizachyrium [Andropogon] scoparius) and other grasses. There are two broods from early May (May 4, Muscogee County) to mid-June (June 10, Floyd County) and early August (August 7, Banks County) to late September (September 20, Talbot County). Early Date: May 4 (Muscogee County); Late Date: September 20 (Talbot County). Conservation Status: Secure.
