Black Swallowtail is uncommon statewide. The habitat is almost any open area including urban gardens, mountain meadows, fields and marshes. The hostplants are in the parsley family (Apiaceae) and include Queen Anne’s lace (Daucus carota), Herbwillian (Ptilimnium capillaceum) (Liberty County), parsley and dill. There are three flights from February to late October. Early Date: February 9 (Charlton County); Late Date: October 2 (Bulloch County). Conservation Status: Secure.
